Taking on a project is always a challenging and exciting process; we want to make sure to capture the essence of a company through creative design and careful planning whilst also providing a space that offers functionality and practicality for a busy operating office.
Even more challenging when that said business is our own.
After 11 years based on Sydney’s North Shore, our Directors, Sean Wilcox and Rohan Panikkar decided to move our growing business to the design hub of Sydney’s CBD. It not only allowed us accessibility to clients and business contacts but it was a sure fire way to raise our profile and showcase how far we had evolved as a company.
We are a leading fit-out and refurbishment business. Our office fit out is essentially our calling card and a reflection of what we stand for as a company, including our taste, our values and most importantly our distinct style. We knew this was the ultimate passion project and we had to nail it. We were fortunate enough to procure a highly sought-after building on bustling King Street; this building is shared with other designers, architects and furniture suppliers, a real mecca for the design industry.
After securing such a beautiful heritage building we wanted to treat it with respect, paying homage to its rich history. With its already residential feel including timber floors, heritage details, big windows & natural light, we had our inspiration, a New York loft with a touch of old school glamour. With a strong emphasis on meeting and entertaining spaces, Sean and Rohan wanted an open space where staff and clients could ‘drop in’. It as here ‘The Directors Lounge’ was born; however this lounge was by no means exclusive. It was designed with building a sense of collaboration amongst directors and staff plus also encouraging clients to feel at home when they came to visit. Featuring plush leather lounges, cascading ceiling to floor white curtains and a mad men inspired bar, this lounge is the essence of comfort and opulence combined.
Another important facet of the design process was to create a strong sense of functionality and accessibility in the workplace. By keeping the space all pen plan (no isolating cubes here) the whole team is connected, encouraging staff to share ideas and feel like part of a team. This allows our staff and lients alike to feel a sense of space yet know they can share a conversation in the kitchen, the designers zone and of course the ‘Directors Lounge’. Overall the space features classic, contemporary finishes, one off pieces, custom joinery & bold Morphos signage. Our new fit out is a real testament to our innovative team of designers who successfully encapsulated the Morphos brand beautifully.
